he 58th Annual Drama Desk Awards will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 8:00 PM at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street). The Awards show is written by Bill Rosenfield and directed by Jack CummingsIII (co-founder and artistic director of Transport Group).

Nominations for the 2013 Drama Desk Awards were announced Monday – and the Canadian contingent that helped bring a circus-themed revival ofPippin to Broadway were roundly recognized for their work.

Circus creator Gypsy Snider, co-founder of Montreal’s Les 7 doigts de la main, shared a nomination for best choreography with Chet Walker, while frequent Cirque du Soleil collaborator Dominique Lemieux was nominated for her costume designs.

Dallas scored big in New York’s Drama Desk nominations, announced today (Monday, April 29.) Giant, premiered at the Dallas Theater Center last season and produced at the New York Public Theater last fall, won a nomination for best new musical. As did Hands on a Hardbody, with book by Park Cities native Doug Wright. They tied for most nominations — nine apiece.
