BROADWAY-BOUND MUSICAL “ANGELS”, FOR WHICH DRAMA DESK EXECUTIVE PRODUCER ROBERT R. BLUME IS THE CONSULTING PRODUCER, HOLDING OPEN CASTING CALLS IN NEW ORLEANS AND LOS ANGELES
A nationwide search is currently underway to cast multi-talented male and female performers who can sing and dance in key roles for the major Broadway-bound musical, ANGELS.
Open casting calls have just been completed in New York City and additional open calls are scheduled to take place in New Orleans on Tuesday, April 22, at the First Baptist Church of New Orleans, 5290 Canal Boulevard, and in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 24, at the Hollywood United Methodist Church, 6817 Franklin Avenue (at Highland). In both cities, sign-in will begin at 9:30 AM with a 10:00 AM start.
ANGELS is seeking “talented, passionate, enthusiastic singer/actor/dancers, men and women, of all ages” for the lavish musical about the forces of good vs. evil -- angels vs. demons. Wanted are strong singer/actors of all ethnicities with athletic, good moves, gymnastics and martial arts a plus. Flying and dancing involved.
Those auditioning should be prepared to sing a brief contemporary Broadway song that is meaningful to them. An accompanist will be provided. Agents wishing to submit clients are asked to contact Calleri Casting.
The first public performances of ANGELS will take place August 29 through September 13, at the Strand Theater in Shreveport, LA. A second out-of-town engagement is being contemplated prior to a Broadway run during the 2008/2009 theatre season.
According to producer Marcus Cheong, “ANGELS tells the story of Sera, the Angel of Light, as she seeks to find her place and purpose in the universe. ANGELS offers a message of hope, courage and redemption that is ideal for family audiences seeking an uplifting spectacle.”
ANGELS features music by Ken Lai and book and lyrics by Cheong and Lai. Other members of the creative and producing team include Richard Fowler (director); Mary Mitchell Campbell (music supervisor); Laura Bergquist (music director); Tamara Lovatt-Smith (producing associate); Robert R. Blume (consulting producer); and Snug Harbor Productions, Inc. (general management).
