NEW DRAMA DESK AWARDS TROPHY DEBUTS THIS YEAR
This year’s Drama Desk Award winners will be the first recipients of a handsome new trophy specifically created and hand-produced for the Drama Desk by Robert Du Grenier Associates, Inc., a world renowned design studio specializing in glass sculptural pieces and three-dimensional design. According to Robert Du Grenier, a well-known sculptor working primarily in glass, metal and marble who founded the company in 1980, each trophy will be individually produced so that even though all will look the same, each will actually be different.
The new Drama Desk Awards trophy stands 8” tall – a 7” hand blown glass interpretation of a traditional inkwell with quill standing on a one inch black base.
The company also designs and produces most of the custom awards for MTV Networks, including MTV Movie Awards, MTV Rock the Vote Awards, Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and TV Land Signature Awards. They also create annual awards for the CMT Music Awards, National Music Council, Crain’s New York Business and ESPN’s ESPY Award.
The 53rd Annual Drama Desk Awards will be held Sunday, May 18, at 9:00 PM at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. The Awards Ceremony will be hosted by the cast of the Broadway-bound musical [title of show] – Susan Blackwell, Hunter Bell, Jeff Bowen, Heidi Blickenstaff and Larry Pressgrove.
