NEW EDITOR IN CHIEF AT DramaDesk.org

The Drama Desk Board is pleased to announce that Barry Gordin is our new website Editor in Chief.

Barry is a well-known photographer whose celebrity photos have appeared in publications around the world, including People and InTouch. His weekly photo column, Gordin’s View in Dan’s Papers, was a staple of the social scene for over two decades, and his photos appear regularly in almost every publication in the Hamptons. His work has appeared in group shows at galleries in SoHo and on the Eastend.

Barry is also a theater critic, Editor in Chief of TheaterLife.com, and a voting member of the Drama Desk.

INVITATION FOR MEMBERS TO WRITE FOR THE WEBSITE AND POST THEATER COVERAGE

As the new Editor in Chief, Barry will welcome submissions of original features and interviews to be included on the website . In addition, Drama Desk members are invited to submit their latest reviews (or links to reviews).  Features should cover news about theater or about members’ noteworthy activities and achievements. If you are submitting the text of a review rather than a link, please also submit a photo and caption.

Submissions should be made by going to the site, DramaDesk.org, and clicking “Contact.” At “Contact,” you will be asked for your name, your email address, your subject (which should be “Member Submission”), and your message (in which space you should paste your link or the text of your article or review).

As editor, Barry must reserve the right to determine how much material can be published and the time of publication.

NOMINATION SUGGESTIONS

Since last summer, the Drama Desk Awards nominating committee has been hard at work, seeing the New York productions that meet awards eligibility requirements and conferring about the 30-plus categories honored annually by our organization. As the committee comes into the final stretch of the nominating process, members are welcome to share suggestions regarding particular theater professionals whose contributions to this season are of unusual significance. Please send any suggestions you may have to committee chair David Barbour at david.barbour@plasa.org.
You should include the name of the applicable theater professional (or professionals) and awards category, as well as the title (or titles) of the applicable production (or productions). Suggestions should be submitted to David no later than noon EDT on Friday, April 20.
