Sardi’s Panel: Why Shakespeare? Why now?

Drama Desk’s annual lunch panel at Sardi’s is set for Friday, April 4th, in the Eugenia Room at the famous eatery (click HERE for tickets). Dr. Carol Rocamora moderates a discussion entitled, “Why Shakespeare? Why Now?” that will address the cornucopia of Bard productions in New York this season. Panelists include actor Michael Pennington (who plays “King Lear” at Theatre for a New Audience’s new home in Brooklyn); actor John Glover (one of the fabulous witches in “Macbeth” at Lincoln Center Theater); Scott Shepherd (featured in Wooster Group’s “Cry, Trojans! Troilus and Cressida”); the visionary Drama Desk Award-winning director Julie Taymor (“Midsummer Night’s Dream” at Theatre for a New Audience); and director Daniel Sullivan, whose acclaimed Shakespeare staging of “The Comedy of Errors” enlivened last summer’s Shakespeare in the Park season.
